ode to joy.

I once had a cat. Now, I loved him very much and I’m sure Jesus did too, but he was a mongrel, in more ways than the obvious one. When I was still young enough to be an early riser, he would chase me around the livingroom and try to scratch me. Despite developing reflexes that could compete with his feline ones, it wasn’t really worth the hassle. I still loved him, though I secretly wished he would turn into a dog. Which my parents would never let me have since they were smart enough not to believe in my “I’ll walk him every day myself I swear please please!” lies.

There are plenty of elegant, graceful and pretty dogs out there, but I’ve never wanted one of those; I think my cat traumatized the shit out of me. I prefer the more sturdy dogs, and I have many favorites, but I think I’ll start with the least elegant, graceful and pretty dog I’ve ever seen:

They just look so completely, thoroughly retarded; I can’t help but feel as if we’re deeply connected in spirit. I got to meet one about a month ago, and I can’t forget about him. He was made of awesome that is purer and more distilled than Absolut Vodka. Odin Hiawatha, this post is for you.

Cate Blanchett is perfection. Not only is she my favorite Cate with a C, but she might just be my favorite Cate/Kate/whatever other awkward spelling people use nowadays – in the entire world. Maybe even my favorite Aussie too. She is talented, graceful, and has so much je nais se quoi that Tyra Banks can pack up her weave (and other belongings)… and go home.
